Brothers Justin and Brandon Griffin built customized homes on a shared large property.
Tennessee brothers Justin and Brandon Griffin have been close their entire lives. They had the same friends, attended school together and even married and had children around the same time. For them, building their forever homes simultaneously felt…meant to be.
The Griffins found their ideal rural property in Ethridge, Tennessee, and split the 240 acres evenly between them. For the brothers, it was about being close together and building memories with their families.
“For us, it’s about having our memories together,” Justin said. “Our kids can play in the creek together, ride four-wheelers and hunt. They can grow up together and always have that best friend.”
Despite their mutual love for rural living, their paths diverged a bit after they prepared the land for construction. Brandon’s family wanted a classic farmhouse modeled after his wife’s grandparents’ home. In contrast, Justin’s family was drawn to the open concept design and flexibility of a barndominium.
Despite their different visions, Justin and Brandon still had parallel home-building experiences because they turned to Rural 1st for help. Unlike traditional lenders, Rural 1st understands the nuances of rural construction and offers financing for various building options.
“Rural 1st has been great,” Justin said. “It’s been a smooth process. If you have a problem, you can call them, and they’ll work it out. They’ll help you every step of the way.”
With Brandon’s farmhouse and Justin’s barndominium now complete, the two families enjoy the freedom of a large property and are thrilled that their children will grow up together.
“Since we’ve always been really close, we wanted to bring our families together as much as possible,” Brandon said. “Splitting this property down the middle has been perfect so far.”
