Brandon and Leah Griffin grew up on large family farms and loved the freedom of the country lifestyle. When it came time for them to find a place to settle down, they wanted their children to have the same opportunities to live off the land.
“We wanted to raise them someplace open, someplace they could be free and do the things kids want to do—because that’s how we grew up,” Leah explained. “There are so many rules when you live in town. We prefer how stress-free and simple it is out here.”
They decided on a property in Ethridge, Tennessee, which they split with Brandon’s brother, Justin, and his family.
“Justin and I have always been really close, and we wanted our families to experience that, too,” Brandon said. “It was a big commitment and a lot of work, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”
With support from Rural 1st, Brandon and Leah built a traditional farmhouse modeled after Leah’s grandparents’ home.
“The home burnt down when I was a teenager, and it was a huge loss for us because it had always been our family’s gathering place,” Leah recalled. “It was my dream ever since Brandon and I got married to create our own rendition of my grandparent’s home.”
Brandon and Leah’s dream of having a home where everyone is welcome has become a reality. Their large property, shared with family, recreates the simplicity of their childhood.
“We couldn’t have done it without Rural 1st. We’re very thankful for them,” Brandon said. “They consistently went above and beyond for us throughout the process, even saving us thousands of dollars in interest by helping us lock in a great rate.”
